Sealladh na Mara/Ocean View

Tel: 001-613-832-2244

Sealladh na Mara is a spacious two-story stone house with one of the best sea views on the Isle of Lewis. Fourteen miles from the airport and ferry terminal at Stornoway, it stands in its own grounds surrounded by croft fields overlooking Loch Mor Bharabhais and the open coast of the North Atlantic. The house is refurbished to a high standard and features a comfortable lounge with open hearth (peat supplied), sun lounge opening onto patio, dining room, large fully equipped kitchen with new appliances and dining area, two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, exposed stone walls, and full central heating.

The shore and a waymarked coastal path are eight minutes walk from the house, and Barvas Beach is a further twenty minute walk along the shore. Exellent salmon and trout fishing can be had in Loch Mor Bharabhais at the bottom of the croft field behind the house. The west coast of Lewis alternates between spectacular cliffs and marvellous sand beaches, where more often than not you will find yourself alone. Inland lies one of the most extensive peatlands in Europe, offering unlimited opportunities for moor and hill walking, loch fishing and bird watching. This coast is a nesting area for many sea and shore birds, as well as a major migratory departure point for Iceland and the Arctic regions. A pair of otters inhabit a nearby burn, and seals and whales can be seen in the coastal waters of Lewis. Ocean View is within a few miles of the Calanais Standing Stones and many other archaeological monuments and cultural sites of interest, as well as of galleries and artists' studios.

Coastal, hill and moorland walking, bathing and surfing, cycling, loch and sea fishing, bird watching

Sleeps four in two bedrooms, double and twin; cot for infant provided
