Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and third largest in the United Kingdom, although as an Urban Area only the fifth most populous in the United Kingdom. The city is situated on the River Clyde in the country's West Central Lowlands. Glasgow grew from a small rural settlement on the River Clyde to become one of the largest seaports in the world. Expanding from the medieval bishopric of Glasgow and the later establishment of the University of Glasgow in the 15th century, it became a major centre of the Scottish Enlightenment in the 18th century. Glasgow was known as the "Second City of the British Empire" for much of the Victorian era and Edwardian period. Today it is one of Europe's top ten financial centres and is home to many of Scotland's leading businesses. Glasgow is also ranked as the 57th most liveable city in the world.

Balmaha bed and breakfast and bunkhouse offers accommodation on the West Highland Way and is just 7 miles from Ben Lomond, Scotland's most southerly Munro (mountain over 3000ft/914mts). We have very flexible accommodation with two double and a single room in the main house and 4 rooms in the adjacent bunkhouse which can sleep up to 14 persons. We also have a self contained chalet sleeping 4 persons which is available all year round for a holiday in Scotland or for a short break near Loch Lomond. The front rooms of the house overlook Balmaha Bay and many of the southern islands of Loch Lomond. All rooms are en-suite with tea and coffee making facilities.

Located on the picturesque shores of Loch Lomond in the village of Balmaha on the route of The West Highland Way, Balmaha House is ideal for walkers on the long distant walk and also water sport enthusiasts wanting to explore the islands and landscape of Loch Lomond. Balmaha is a lovely Scottish Village with its own pub and marina and is within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, an area designated for its outstanding natural beauty.

Balmaha is an ideal base for exploring Loch Lomond and the wider area of The Trossachs and the Southern Highlands. There is a Waterbus Taxi service that stops at Balmaha and can take you all over Loch Lomond and is a great way to explore the 25 mile length of the loch. The bunkhouse only is dog friendly.

Amadeus Guest House

The Amadeus is a small family and friends run guest house, so you can expect to be greeted with a smile. Your room should be immaculate or we will sack the cleaner! We will help you with anything you need (within reason) to make your stay a memorable one. However, our house is over 100 years old, and this comes with some idiosyncracies. We are constantly upgrading and decorating, but this does take time, so please be patient with us. We are getting there. 

Our house is quiet and strictly non smoking. There is no curfew but we do expect guests returning late to be respectful of other guests. All rooms have free WIFI, flat screen TV, freeview, tea and coffee, and hair dryers.

We love children and are very family friendly, we have 3 cots, high chairs, and toys, and what is best is under 7's go free!

Breakfast at the Amadeus is a continental buffet. But proper continental with lots of choice. Cheeses hams, juices, lots of cereal, toast, teas, coffee, bread roll, eggs, porridge, fresh fruit, yoghurt, so basically a generous selection.

Guests are welcome to check in at any time before 7 pm. Bags can be dropped in the morning. Rooms are ready from 3 pm onwards. 

Please be sure to inform us if you wish to arrive after 7 pm.

Bankell Farm is a small, friendly, family run camping and caravan site situated in gently rolling, open countryside near Milngavie just north of Glasgow in Scotland.
It is an ideal camping ground for the start or end of the West Highland Way long distance footpath, and also offers car parking for walkers. The Site is also a good base to explore Glasgow and the beautiful countryside around it, including Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.
Milngavie is easily accessible by train or car. Bankell Farm is just 2km walk from Milngavie railway station, and 15 minutes drive from the M8 motorway in Glasgow.
Bankell Farm campsite is open all year round, and has 50 pitches on sheltered, well-drained grass.
The campsite is south facing and surrounded by trees and open countryside. There are toilet and hot shower facilities, and a dishwashing area.
Walkers can leave their cars here while they walk the West Highland Way, and there are services available to transport your luggage.
